Mr. McLean has over 15 years of experience working and assisting people who are living with disabilities, particularly, vision impairment and blindness. A social worker by profession, he is very passionate and caring about blind and visually impaired persons. He brings a strong work ethic which positively motivates other members of the board. His skills set include experienced broker, organizational and planning skills, networking skills and entrepreneurial skills among others. He has actively held this position with dignity and continues to work selflessly by always putting others first. Mrs. Mitchell-Coombs is considered one of the longest serving members at the JSB volunteering in various capacities. A social worker by profession Mrs. Mitchell-Coombs uses her knowledge and acumen to bring solutions and guidance to the JSB. With her knack for details she continues to direct the organization in a positive way. Miss McKoy is a social work professional who has over thirty years experience in this field. This wealth of experience has benefited the JSB through counselling, planning, mentoring capacity building et cetera. She serves as a voice of reason and wisdom on the board, helping to keep the balance necessary for a successful board. After several years of volunteering with the JSB at different levels,Miss Stevenson did not think she was doing enough, but decided that she wanted to serve at the highest level. Her excellent events planning skills and keen attention to detail have helped immensely in the smooth functioning of the JSB. She is a God-fearing woman who has always embraced the Blind or visually impaired. Her joy in serving others has enabled her to serve the JSB well. Ms Foster possesses accounting and auditing skills which she garnered from working within the public sector for over 30 years. Ms. Davis describes herself as “one from the grassroots,” meaning she is one of the original blind persons to lead the JSB. An ardent supporter of the JSB, she knows what it feels like to use programmes and services of the JSB and as such she serves on the board viewing its deliberations through the eyes of the clients. Miss Samuels is a valued member of the Board and is viewed by members of the community of blind and visually impaired as one of their own who has been rehabilitated through the JSB and has made it to the board. She brings hands-on experience to the board as she has first hand experience of using the programmes and services of the JSB. Additionally, she possesses a sharp mind and excellent planning skills. A member of the Lions Club of Mona, He was introduced to the JSB when the club organized a beautification project. In spite of the completion of that project, Mr Archer continued to serve selflessly. He brings over forty years of experience in the fire service to the JSB. Many of his amazing qualities are evident in his service on the Maintenance Committee. Mr. O’Sullivan has always had a desire and drive to accommodate persons living with disabilities, especially those who are blind or visually impaired. This passion was sparked based on his responsibilities for students with disabilities attending the University of the West Indies, Mona in the 1990s. Since his early encounters he was determined to serve and bring change to the lives of blind and visually impaired persons. Mr. O’Sullivan is a highly skilled entrepreneur specializing in accounting and management and brings his expertise to bear on the prudent management of the JSB’s resources. Being a very sociable person, Mrs. Cardoza realized that she loves to serve people. She is an excellent planner, wonderful coordinator and a calculated leader. Her contribution to the board is significant as she serves on several subcommittees and currently chairs the Public Awareness Committee. Mr. Daley started to serve the JSB after a soul-searching conversation with Chairman McLean in which he discovered that there was much more to be gained through service other than helping others. With him already owning an Entertainment Company, he decided to give advice for event planning and management skills to the JSB. He describes himself as a quiet individual who likes to work behind the scenes. Despite this, his determination to serve the community shines brightly in his outstanding work with the JSB. A consummate professional Mrs. Hamilton brings to the board her human resource management and industrial relations skills. She brings over forty years experience in the public sector working at various levels within the sector. She has a deep love and appreciation for volunteerism especially when it involves persons who are blind or visually impaired. The services which she bring to the society include handling disciplinary matters and also the implementing/changing of policies. The JSB is very appreciative of her as a member on the Board.
